Sean42AZFantastic Show! This is a really thorough and fun look at the Legion from a group that clearly loves the property. I love that they are covering all eras. Sean

Carl 60626The Mystery of the Mystery Episodes!I recently discover the show and I’m have a great time pouring through the episodes. I try to read the issue before I listen or read along with the episode. Both are great ways to listen. However, I’m noticing many episodes are missing! Could this be the dastardly work of Dr. Regalus? Perhaps another plunder ploy of the Fatal Five? It’s time to call in the Subs! We need the missing episodes so we can find out the true story of The Magic War pouches! Thanks!

Good Game Poor AppAccess trumps honestyA great fan podcast with excellent info from Michael about details of the Legions history. But don't expect a fair review when creators are involved. Case in point; Bendis, who is a controversial figure at best in Legion fandom, is on a recent interview that takes up most of the episode, is not challenged at all for any choices made on the recent runs or reboot. I was left to wonder if they care more about access versus honesty.

BadShark BlackhandLong Live the Legion of Substitute Podcasters!I only discovered the LoSP back in April of 2021. They are so compelling I started at Episode 1. I just finished Episode 694 and I can’t wait until the next one airs. I subscribe to several podcasts and LoSP is far and away my favorite on comic books and DC movies. Their love of comic book culture is infectious. Pour yourself a drink and spend an hour or two with the LoSP every week. Five Stars!!

DutchguysdTake a drink! This is the bestI’ve been listening to the subs for many years and have enjoyed the many discussions about the characters, the creative teams, and their own experiences with this team. I enjoy keeping up with the current title as well as using the time-bubble to visit the previous will be versions as well. My era is the Superboy and the Legion through 1984 - and i enjoy going over the others i missed. And they ate committed! Weekly shows for a consistent list of episodes to go through. Thanks all!!

Mighty MohGoes great with an ice-cold glass of Kono juice and a Please SandwichStick with this podcast if you're a fan of the Legion. It's a keeper. There's a lot of banter, especially up front, but the more you listen, the more you get to know the affable hosts and care about their lives. They don't always agree, but you can tell that a shared love of the book and characters -- and comics in general -- has forged a strong connection. Their epic reread of my favorite era of LSH (5YL) began only a few months before we suddenly got a new Legion book, and it was a great jumping on point. LLL!

Mikey D26Have a 5th star, as a treat.Hey guys! Love the podcast and have interacted with most of you on Facebook. I’ve been meaning to write a review, but this week (and apparently most weeks in my life) I am Lazy Lad. I came into the Legion in my early teens, when I’d spend weekends at my Dad’s he would bring a stack of comics for the hour commute. High on that stack was the later Baxter run (just before the pouch-pocalypse). I was in love! My Dad and I would end up at flea markets and the local comic store near his house digging for back issues (and the amazing Who’s Who in the Legion!) My strange adolescent nerd brain would make list after list of the Legionnaires, their identities and homeworlds, relationships and interactions. At the end of Magic Wars I was devastated to learn that I’d have to wait 3 WHOLE MONTHS before the new series debut! But it was like that series was created for me! My extensive list making had served me well. I loved the 5 Years Later run, like the whole thing! If I had a problem with it at all it was mostly the “disrespect” I felt that was given to Superboy but I must have gotten over that somewhere along the way (although I had notebooks filled with ways he could be reintroduced and mock up uniforms that had just the right amount of puffy jackets and hanging pouches off of a red and blue wrestling singlet that I just new would take the 30th century fashion world by storm *cringe*). I loved the no uniforms/no code names for some reason, the strange turns and change in character thrilled me, all the new characters and the feeling of loss for the old missing teammates just pinged the right way for me. I do admit to not catching some very obvious things through my initial read. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the Timberwolf and Dawny reveals! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a reread but I remember really enjoying some of the stuff coming up. The promise of Stuart Immonen art alone is getting me excited for this reread along with you guys. Anyway, I am excited for these rereads, as I said, but the promise of NEW Legion issues is by far the best! I consider all Legions “my Legion” (ehh.. except for that Dead Earth Legionnaires annual, I hated that group!) and can’t wait for this new take to become my new favorite. Long way to get there but thanks for sharing your love of the Legion with me! LLL!

tonybtbtbBasicallyFun podcast but the number of times the speaker says “BASICALLY” is really distracting !

Ray CummingsNo titleI’m here for 5YL, mostly, but appreciate how thorough all of this is.

Cjn2525Not for the sober, but great for all others! With the number of drinking games on this podcast, playing along at home can become a serious deal and disastrous for a liver. The content is worth it, though, and I can’t wait to listen to their expert commentary as we enter into a great new Legion run.

KevinsayssoSuch a great distractionWhether you're a fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes, comics in general, or just want to hear a bunch of friends get together to chat, this is fun. The Substitute Podcasters members have changed over the years but remain engaging regardless of the who's discussing the Legion's adventures. They're fans but seriously know their stuff whether they're talking about the various Legion reboots, Ultra Boy's "smarts", or the difference between barbeque and a cook out. They've been around a long time, and I hope they are around for a lot longer.

coolusernameLove the passion. Hate the audio quality. When they were recently reporting about the new Legion book - the most exciting Legion news we’ve had in years - it sounded like they were talking with tin cans and string. Not to mention the constant phone call disconnects. I haven’t listened enough to know their setup. Are they usually on phones? So they have a studio. These audio issues need to be fixed honestly before I can even bother listening again. They love the Legion though so that’s cool.

Rebis02You should listen! This show has been going on for almost 10 years and is STILL going strong! The perfect place to go if you are a Legion fan, curious about the Legion or just want to hear some good DC Comics related talk. The hosts are able to disagree without resorting to name-calling and fighting and keep the show entertaining and moving along. You will not be disappointed with the Subs!

a1000facesFun PodcastThis is one of my favorite podcasts of any sort. I enjoy the easy camaraderie of the podcasters. (Plus, they responded to my request to read a Legion Christmas story from 1980.) However, they too -- like the group they cover -- have undergone a reboot of sorts. It took me a while to realize that the two new members who I thought were guests of the show were actually new members to the group. While I miss the former members and hope we get an update of their status, the new guys are have grown on me. I like the new legion ingénue (Travis), and even though Grabois seems to be a bit humorless and take himself a little too seriously (lighten up) and can be a bit of a wet blanket, I enjoy his encyclopedic knowledge of the Legion and his weird non-rivalry rivalry with both Paul and Darren. Speaking of Paul, he works well as the calm center around which the other podcasters with their little ideosyncrasies revolve.

JuniperLee15A fantastic discussion of the entire history of the Legion of Super-Heroes!Each episode includes a read-through and discussion of at least one issue of a Legion comic. The hosts also discuss any Legion news and regularly compliment Ultra Boy's intelligence. It's a very fun and informative podcast.

HjmadnickWhy I like this podcastI have spent the past few years enjoying this podcast starting from episode 1. I enjoy it because I love LSH and the DCU I used to listen to other superhero review podcasts but the Subs really know their stuff, because they love the subject matter (almost) as much as I do, so this is pretty much the only one I stuck with. These guys bring their personalities (and their families) to the game and they’re good people as well as great fans. Btw that’s all the more apparent when you start at the beginning and see how the pod evolved. The Subs love what they do and it shows. If you want a great superhero podcast, give this one a try, five episodes. Then post your thoughts. Thank you.

Travis HamockeryKathoon!Crack open a cold, frosty Rimborian Silverale and take a drink every time this podcast makes you laugh; you'll be bombed by the end of the show. Paul, Scott, Darren, and Matt make the best Legion podcast on the interwebs. I've sampled many comics-related podcasts over the years, and this one has become my favorite.

DGoodhartHop In The Time Bubble...... and travel to the far-flung 31st century and bask in the adventures of DC Comics' Legion of Super-Heroes! Your guides are Paul French, Darren Nowell, Matt Kramer and Scott Coles, better known as The Legion of Substitute Podcasters, and these guys know their stuff. If you're a Legion fan already, you'll have a ball re-visiting the classic stories and hearing about the current adventures. If you're one of those comic fans who find the Legion inaccessible, then these guys will show you the error of your ways and with enthusiasm and good humor. Give the show a shot and get ready to want to read these stories again and again. Then, once you're done there, go to your little Facebook on the interwebs, type in "Legion of Substitute Podcasters" in the searchy-box and join in the fun there as well. It's more out of this world than Martian Ice Cream...

AnnemargoOne of the BestIf you love DC's Legion of Superheroes, this is THE podcast for you. If you're not that familiar with the Legion, this podcast is still one of the funniest, most informative podcasts out there. Paul, Darrin, Scott and Matt have great chemistry together and put out a consistently good product week after week. I can't recommend it enough.
