moondoggy02116Funny and cool group of guysI’ve really grown to like this show. As a black listener, I don’t always enjoy music shows with only white hosts because it can be an unpleasant reminder of how segregated music was really until Thriller. But these guys have found creative ways in recent years to talk about more than just “rock” music as traditionally defined. Also, the friendships among them seem so genuine that it’s a place where I want to just hang out, if only in my imagination.

BfegptRock Solid FanPat Francis hosts a variety of guests that hilariously discuss, mostly rock, with a humorous….spin on tunes from yesterday and today. Even music discussed that I don’t necessarily like. I enjoy listening regardless. Rock on!! Todd Leno

OverkylArt5 Star ReviewHe forgot Pulp. He didn’t mention Suede. Where’s Sleeper? What about James? Where is James in this? Why did he not talk about how Coldplay continued with Brit Pop?

Willy AiraldiFun!Fun topics and funny hosts. Funtastic!!!!

Tori TinklesThe Bad, the Ugly, and the GoodWhile I am a fan of this Podcast, it has - from time to time in recent years -carried more social and political overtones which I find rather boring. The show is at its best when the host has guests to bounce off of. When he flies solo, it is a bit of a struggle to listen. The podcast is very welcoming and engaging. I feel like I'm hanging with some buddies and talking about music. However, it is bad form when they sometimes bring up a topic only to say they can't discuss it on the air or words to that effect. Edit that stuff out. Some time ago, the host was also able to buy a new laptop because of the financial support of his listeners, yet chastised this same audience for recording intros which were too long during a listener supported show which I thought wasn't too cool. Overall though, the host and co-hosts are very engaging, entertaining, and personal. They are very knowledgable about their subjects without taking themselves too seriously and coming off like a bunch of blowhards. I'll keep giving it a shot each week for sure.

Sterling5I disagreeI’m sure Journey will be just crushed by your intolerance.
-
TrashookI agreeEnjoying your podcast. I’m of similar opinion that Journey won’t get a penny from me cause of Jonathan Cain and his wacko wife

RUN TMC10I Care About the Rock HallGreat episode with Joe and Kristen! Check out their podcast, it is fun and you did a great job as a guest on theirs.
-
Christopher Todd DavisOne of the best out there…Pat always delivers a great show. Even episodes where I don’t think I’ll enjoy the subject, I listen, because he does it right. His interviews show how much care he puts into doing what he does and you can tell his guests truly appreciate the time he took to prepare. 5 stars all the way.

Mr. Wall Street NYCI love this podcastThis is a wonderful podcast. The host tells wonderful stories about a new theme, album, or band each week with great insights. He also seems to be a pretty nice person too. It’s worth a listen and worth supporting.

Murray_69Used to be about comedy and musiclegitimately my favorite podcast for a time, then everyone lost their minds during the last election and it became unbearable to put up with listening to everyone’s inner monologue on a podcast. took a break from it for a couple years. thought I’d come back and see how it is now. nope. too bad really, the format used to be great.

jbhu2I Didn’t Come Here For...I didn’t come here for music, or to be entertained, or to hear really funny stories, or to understand what motivates artists in the music industry, or to get insight on never before heard stories about my favorite rock stars! All these guys talk about is a rock solid vibe all the time! Why can’t they be boring like me and discuss things like rutabagas, or cat litter, or breakfast cereals! If I wanted to hear more awesome stories about great artists and what inspires them I could go listen to recent crap picks for the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame! Or become a creative writer so I can make up dry stories myself! Who is this Pat Francis, and who is Kyle? And why do they talk constantly to really great friends and fans?!?! Happy April Fools Day Pat! 😁 Of course this review is just a hater themed farce in honor of April 1st. As always love the show!!! Take care and keep rocking. If you “unwashed listener” want to hate on a show go find a different podcast to do it on cause this one is straight awesome!
-
GompyFunnyThis show is funny and has great guests. Pat Francis is a nice guy and his taste in music is definitely not awful.
-
vwismoovbListen to Rock SolidPat Francis seems to get the best out of his guests because he is an honest and genuine host that respects the artists. One of my favorite podcasts. Funny and entertaining music podcast with great hosts, guests and production.
-
Bill9064Decent podcastCan be very good or can be very frustrating like when Pat and Murray spent 10 minutes or more talking about their poker game.
-
Mhops1New favoriteRapidly becoming one of the few podcasts I’ll take the time to listen to. Pat is a great interviewer and he and his (intermittent) cohosts are pretty funny. Sorry if it’s you or someone you know who made that intro song, but man, it’s...not good. Sounds like a TV commercial theme for something like mouth wash or a bad 80s sitcom.
-
Bert KayGood at firstThe more you listen, the more you realize Pat is kind of a jerk. He loves Pete "Im just doing 'research' Townsend but hates Michael Jackson? The guy has a house and a pool but solitics donations to "buy" equipment. He cant stop commenting on other men's appearance flaws. No wonder Jimmy hates him. Jesus.
-
Flash Fan #1Funny and smartPat, Kyle, and their rotating cohosts and guests are brilliantly insightful and funny! They provide the laughs and present a library of songs known and unknown. Best episodes include the Bohemian Rhapsody episode (that David Ace knows his stuff!) and anytime Kyle gets angry at Train. Revision: More Highlander talk, please!
-
Lisa of the EightiesGreat Podcast! My favorite podcast! Pat is a great host and a wonderful interviewer. His guests always offer great insight and always gives me an appreciation for the music, even if I didn't before. His various co-hosts are great additions and his listener curatated episodes are excellent. Look at the episode titles, I bet there are many that cover something you like!
-
NitzillaA comedy podcast about music. With great music. And comedy. Making my way through every episode. Even though I like the rotating co-hosts I miss Gary Lucy.
-
spudnugget 15Always Entertaining...and funny! My go to podcast! Pat Francis and his rotating co-hosts present a wide variety of musical topics in a fun and knowledgeable way, and the variety of musical guests he gets on the show is amazing. If you love music (new and classic) and you love to laugh (if your lucky Paul Stanley might drop by), then this is your new favorite podcast. Love it!
-
Listener Matt BurkeyRocking Good TimeDespite Pat's taste in music this is a fun and informative music podcast. The host is a great interviewer and keeps the conversation fresh and fun with every guest. It can get rock heavy (it's in the title) but Pat is open to all kinds of music and will listen to anything to give his two cents about it. If you like music and laughs give this podcast a try.

Snowman in FLLike a Rock n Roll CheersSuper big fan of many music-related podcasts, and Rock Solid is at the top of the heap. Great show, great hosts, great guests/topics. Pat and his crew of co-hosts always remind me of a Rock n Roll Cheers - a diverse cast of funny, jovial, characters who always make the listener feel right at home. And I’ve been turned on to SO much great music through this show. Even when I’m not immediately drawn to the topic, I always listen and always learn something. Rock Solid is simply rock solid as a podcast.
-
joshuakatz90Rock Solid Hero’s!Just thought I write a lite review about your podcast! I am 29 years old, and grew up with all the Classic rock that we all know and love! There are songs I have never heard of, until I started listening to the show! Thank you Pat and the rest of the Rock Solid crew, you guys have been making my week a little less dull!
-
Bractune9Music + comedy = podcast goldI have been an avid listener and supporter of Rock Solid for many years now. Pat Francis is a great host, and the whole show feels very similar to the times I get together with my friends to talk about great music. Even when the subject of the show is an artist I don't care about, they still find ways to make it as entertaining as the episodes about my favorite musicians. I look forward to it every week!
-
tito landrumSteve Stevens interview was...rock solid! The recent interview of guitarist Steve Stevens was excellent. The episodes where Pat’s enthusiasm for the topic or artist are always strong and this was no exception Pat was gracious and well prepared and Steve was highly engaged and humble. Overall it was very well done with skillful editing/production. Prior to the interview, I only had passing knowledge of Steve’s work with a Billy Idol but this made me want to check out his entire catalog of work.

HerbertLamontOne of my favorite podcasts.I love this podcast. Pat is a great host. I love the rotating cohosts. I wish Christy was on more. Only thing I need is more Schmidt. He should be a regular cohost. I’ve discovered some great music through the podcast. I miss Kyle. The episodes with his kids and Pilar are some of my favorites.
-
LadymegatronSo much funThis podcast is an absolute blast. It’s like sitting around in your basement with your friends, laughing, talking, and listening to records. It’s incredibly comforting. They have opened my eyes to a ton of new music, and helped me re-discover old favorites. 100% recommend!
-
Ray V. BrocolliReliable Rock PodcastI’ve been listening to several rock podcasts every week for years, but some are not always great. But with the Rock Solid Podcast, even if it’s not a stellar episode, I will still enjoy it. Every time. And there are so many reasons why. So check it out and see for yourself.

Cliff Burton's GhostRock Solid rocks solidly!Migrated to Rock Solid from NNF and loved 95% of them (even with He Who Shall Nor Be Named). I love hearing bands I kind of ignored (like UFO) and wish there was a little more hard rock or metal but that's ok. Love the interviews, The only ones I skip are bands I am annoyed with. Rolling Stones and Prince, for example, always rubbed me the wrong way even though the world loves them. Anyway, hope you can do a pandemic over get-together with Murray, Mike and Christy. Thanks! Rich

TheGeorgeCorriganGreat Music/Comedy PodcastLong time listener, first time reviewer here. Loved having Kyle back for the wedding episode. I missed his, “I didn’t come here for...” review jokes.

stini777For The Love of MusicHere's the thing about Rock Solid...Pat is great, his cast of co-hosts and contributers are great, and the creativity that goes into his themed episodes is great. You can't lose. But what I find so refreshing about the Rock Solid Podcast is it's love of music, no matter what the genre is and no matter who performs it. A great song is a great song and it should be celebrated as such. Pat Francis gets that and it comes through in every episode. That's not to say he won't call out something that's awful - some of the podcast's best humor comes from critiquing songs that are terrible (it's a Siegel Stink-A-Roo). What the podcast doesn't do is judge a book by its cover - although album covers are always up for judgement.

Reyjoe1986Ingredients for a perfect podcast...Add: 1 Comedian/Rock Music fan/Podcast Host and all around good guy/father. 1 Comedian's nephew/Album Cover Critic (who is just as funny as the host) 1 group of shuffling co-hosts (comedians, musicians, comedy writers, music experts, family members, listeners, one ex-soccer player) _____________________ Add all of this together and you have the perfect rock music podcast! Give it a taste - I guarantee you will be coming back for seconds, thirds, etc -

Foxdn1So Funny, So Entertaining ...Pat is funny, really funny and just a great entertainer. I highly recommend this show to any music fan! Such a great listen!!!

House of P99Fab Fun for Music FansI'm writing this review while in lockdown during the coronavirus epidemic and it's one of the few things helping me maintain my sanity. Pretty much everything one could want in a music podcast. Entertaining. Funny. Educational. And there are literally hundreds of episodes to choose from. Wanna hear Pat and his co-hosts break down the entire catalogue of your favorite band? You can do that. Wanna learn about an artist you know little or nothing about? These podcasts are a great place to start. Highly recommended!
-
timework77Just click play…If you like your music podcasts mixed with some humor I would highly recommend tuning in. Both the host and many of the co-hosts have either a past history in comedy or are currently working as comedians/comic writers. This podcast feels like a hang with a bunch of close friends every week. There’s humor, insight, things to learn and even the occasional and entertaining disagreement. The rotating cast keeps things fresh. The opinions are sincere regardless how popular (or unpopular) the band or music might be. I find myself tuning in to topics that normally wouldn’t interest me, just to see what they have to say.

Lacosta71Solid as a Rock!!!To paraphrase Ashford and Simpson, Rock Solid with Pat Francis is "solid as rock"! Just an amazing listen as Pat and guests curate surgical deep dives into music. The musical journey is life long and I feel like I learn something new with every listen. The biggest compliment I can Rock Solid is that it truly piques my curiosity for bands or artist I may not have been into. The car and hard work put into this podcast is evident as Rock Solid is a well-researched show that doesnt take itself too seriously. And that is exactly what a discussion about music should be..FUN. Special shout out to the following episodes: Elton in the 70's, The Muppets, Motley Crue: The Dirt, KISS Solo Albums: Track by Track. If you love music, you really owe it to your soul to download and subscribe to Rock Solid with Pat Francis!
-
Parrothead135Funny and informative...Pat, Kyle and the rotating crew of guests make for appointment podcasting. I have to listen every Thursday. It is worth it to go back through the whole catalog.
-
DontgiveacareThe perfect podcast for music obsessives (that’s a good thing BTW)Not sure how I first came across this podcast but I’ve been hooked ever since discovering it. Pat and his guests’ love for music never fails to come through whether they are doing “songs about” episodes or doing “deep, deep, deep dives” into a band’s entire output. Who knew three hours of an episode dedicated to two hit wonder Blue Oyster Cult would fly by? I don’t make a habit of telling friends or casual acquaintance they should check out certain podcasts. I never miss an opportunity to tell people about Rock Solid.
-
Matt Stanton ComedyLearn something new every timeListening for years. A fun podcast that introduces me to different songs. Enjoy the cast whole cast. The theme shows are my personal favorites.
-
dianedetroitDig it!So good! Love it! Thoroughly enjoyable Rock chat and some silly stuff. I’ve loved all the episodes I’ve listened to. Can’t wait to listen to more. May even pay for this. 2 bucks ? Totally worth it.

Former UmpDavid Wright’s episodeA thoroughly enjoyable episode. He is an extremely well informed Stones fan. Everytime he paused or searched for a fact I was right there saying it, mostly at the same moment he did. BTW tell him he missed a hell of a special show on the No Filter tour, the band really brought their ‘A’ game. Couldn’t agree more in Brussels Affair, it’s a long standing high water mark with bootleg listeners and the official release has quite a few songs from the other Brussels show (never before heard, show). The band had a new energy in 1978 Ronnie was fully integrated with the band and the new album, being a hit, didn’t hurt. I’ve seen them since my first concert in 1978, in Cleveland and only missed the Urban Jungle show in London due to the impending birth of my daughter (a fact I remind her of, often). Anyway Pat, I enjoy your podcast.
-
J. RandalAlways GreatPodcast keeps me entertained even when focusing on bands I was never a fan of- they have converted me several times.
-
FratelliBeyond Entertaining!!If you’re looking for interesting dives into music and the music culture then you found it. I love the rotating guest hosts as well as random ones. Pats knowledge for music never ceases to amaze me. Not an episode goes by where I don’t learn something new about a song or artist. I highly recommend this podcast.
-
Clint KaufmannThis Show Rocks! Get It?Great bands and artists album by album. Love it. You can tell that Pat and his guests are real fans. ...Deep cuts, hits, jokes, cursing... It’s all here!
