Can’t help themselves but to disparage republicans as ignorant raging racists. Tiring to listen to. Love this show but it becomes unbearable to listen to when they go down that route.

The show has dissolved into commie dribble. Most of the episodes since 2024 are just carefully curated leftists takes on historical topics. Used to be funny and entertaining, now it’s just cherry picking sources to fit a liberal narrative. They do try to sprinkle a few half-hearted jokes to keep you listening between the 8 minute ad breaks.

And I can’t take it anymore with Henry trying to get acting work by spouting off ignorance on the riots…I’ve seen you guys live multiple times and can’t take it anymore with the alienating of people with beliefs that differ from Henry’s unhinged revolutionary screeds Maybe he hates cops so much because his dad was one

This podcast is truly witty, insightful, intelligent and a bit of kilter all at once. I’ve listened from the beginning and I plan on listening til the cold dark end. Ed adds an amazing hint of optimism mixed with wit, Henry’s character performances and quirk always get me (I also appreciate the theater kid level of darkness), and Marcus has always struck me as highly intelligent and very thorough if a bit dark himself. The friendship between them is palpable . I also miss Ben’s humor but I don’t understand a lot of the comments on here - I never write reviews lol but reading some of them has prompted me to do so. I mean… no one needs to add to anyone’s ego but thanks gents for a wonderful show.

Been listening for years and this podcast has aged like a fine wine and it also pairs well with cheese! Always look forward to the banter and discussions. My one complaint is that there is not nearly enough belching and the sound quality for said belches could use some work. Otherwise love the show! Hail Satan!

Great show, the best show… but man you can just tell when Ed is lying about a story. It’s not funny, it’s super obvious and I can’t stand it. No I’m not asking for Ben back… just want Ed to either not lie, or at least get better at it

I loved this podcast so much I’ve seen it live multiple times. I haven’t recently listened. It’s missing something now. The spark is gone. The broken clock is no longer right twice a day or four times a day. Maybe someday I’ll come back but the creepy magic is gone.

Henry is ruining the Abe Lincoln series. I can't pay attention to the story because he is constantly interrupting to do his crummy and irritation impressions of JWB.

Loved listening to the show till the most recent where bashing a certain political view is unwarranted. Do better

I love LPOTL and especially how hard Marcus goes on his research. As a history teacher for the past 34 years; I want to correct a few minor errors. The Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in Maryland because it only freed slaves in the rebelling southern states. Maryland, as you correctly stated, did not secede. And American states started abolishing slavery shortly after the American Revolution when American recognized their hypocrisy in calling themselves slaves during the revolutionary period. Some states initiated immediate emancipation while others did it gradually. That’s all. Loving the show.

This podcast begs the question: “how many times can I stand listening to Henry vomit up to the back of his throat and swallow it back down?” Dude, you probably have a hiatal hernia or some other medical condition. Go see a physician

I’ve never fallen in love with a podcast as much as this one. Marcus’ brilliant, in-depth research and powerful narratives—combined with raunchy, deeply politically incorrect, and delightfully dark humour—are a blockbuster combo. If you want to have fun learning about any of a huge range of important historical figures, major moments in paranormal activity/UFOs/conspiracy etc., this show’s for you! Ed is a wonderful addition and Henry is hilarious, although offering us listeners the opportunity to hear a little more from the rest of the team might do the pod some good (sorry Henry, love you!). I do respectfully agree with a number of other reviewers that this may not be the best place for politics, although my views do mostly align with our wonderful podcasters’. There are increasingly few places where we can come together as a broader community regardless of our political views, and I would love for LPOTL to be one of them. Thank you so much for bringing such joy and knowledge into the world! We need you more than ever in these increasingly “interesting” times.

Yeah, this podcast is one of the worst ones I've heard and I do not understand why it is so popular. Getting actual information is impossible with multiple hosts cracking unfunny jokes and never letting bits die. I don't get it.

As long as Marcus writes the show it’s pretty good. But anything created by Henry is terrible. He’s an awful writer. Deep Dive Dune or Gud Pud are the most awful things in Apple podcast history.

If you’re a fan of stories about vulnerable people, real families being torn apart with UnAliveing and SA, while grown men giggle and tell the story with avid enthusiasm, than this is the show for you. The hosts are unremarkable people, weak and useless human beings, who prop up their fragile egos by putting others down.

I just wish the guy who screams “funny” takes, would tone it down. The screaming is annoying when you’re in the middle of the story. Humor is great, but his approach doesn’t work for me. It’s a great podcast if you just fast forward through the screaming parts.

It’s a vehicle with two engines and no transmission. When they parted ways with Ben they added another quasi Henry rather than a Ben and it doesn’t work. Marcus was the vehicle, Henry was the engine, and Ben was the transmission. Ed doesn’t navigate the content in the same way Ben was able. Thank you for years worth of incredible dialogue!!

I do think these guys can be funny but they go a little too hard on some of these more intense and horrific cases. They’re more focused on the joke than telling the story and it’s not a good look for them. It comes off as really disrespectful of these families and victims. Too many other podcasts have a better balance of jokes, storytelling, and doing right by the victims for this show to be as popular as it is.

I’ve been a listener for many years now and the pod still holds up and I love the way it’s evolved. I love the boys 😭

Guess what LPOTL listeners, the hosts don’t need to cater to your sensitive disposition. Your dislike of the hosts “rhetoric” is a personal issue, and not something well adjusted human beings get triggered by.

Love the show. Obviously some episodes are more interesting to me then others. these guys do a incredible amount of reading to get there heads around all these interesting characters and topics and weirdness, Ed is very funny and quick but i do miss Ben. the way he sometimes played moral compass to marcus when he is being gleefully macabre and other times said something inappropriatly dark was wonderful and sorely missed.

If you’re here to listen to an improv comedy podcast that talks about p**sy and banging your family, give you their political view, and call you stupid or slow for disagreeing then this is the show for you!

I haven’t a clue what has happened to this show and guys. This used to be my most favorite thing ever! Not just favorite podcast, but most favorite thing. And I loved Marcus, Henry, and (especially) Ed. Not so much now. The hyperbole, fear mongering, and pure contempt for people that don’t align with their political views is truly heartbreaking. I hate that this has happened. I won’t stop listening though. I cannot and will not let go of these guys. I still have a fondness for them and I love the LPOTL community. Incredible people!

I can’t believe I’ve been listening to this show for over a decade. Feel like I’ve grown up with these dudes. I miss Ben but understand the choice. I like Ed, too.

I used to love this podcast, but I can’t stand the constant political grandstanding anymore. I wish they’d keep all their left-wing rhetoric where it belongs—on Abe Lincoln’s Top Hat, like they used to. Back then, they knew how to separate the show from their soapbox. Now it’s just nonstop preaching, and I’m done with it.

I used to love this show, it was always a comfort listen for me. The world is a tough place these days for a lot of people. Lots of their listeners are possibly worried about their jobs, how they’ll afford their rent or mortgage or maybe even if they’ll be able to afford groceries. It’s possible that like me, they are tuning in to take their minds off the hard/stressful stuff. I say this as someone who is not a fan of the orange one and leans more to the center and in most things to the left, but it’s getting intolerable to listen to them pontificate about things they don’t even fully understand as if they are somehow enlightened when in reality they are just living in an echo chamber of their own making. The fact is they are like so many others… they like to talk, but that talk isn’t actually effecting change, it just makes them feel good. Don’t even get me started on Henry! I don’t find him entertaining 90% of the time. Until hearing the commercials he does, I didn’t actually realize I could be more annoyed by listening to advertisements.

Topics that honestly deserve far more serious attention and far fewer jokes. No notes, five stars. Except…I can’t make it through these broken robot kills fellow robots stories. Big time “true crime” with lots of bodies and lurid details. Just idiotic narcissism then violence. I like the high strangeness and the takes on weird history (surprisingly). I end up skipping a third of the eps, but that’s just my taste.

Was an avid listener for years until they ousted Ben. Now no one plays well off of Henry’s bits nor calls Marcus out for being a neckbeard who just goes on long diatribes because he fancies himself a knowitall because he read a book about (insert topic here). It’s just Ed going “Ham” and “Eddietunes.com” and Henry yelling. It does not get funny the more you repeat it. Ed was great on The Story Must Be Told; Henry is great on The Gud Pud. But LPOTL is lame now. Ben, who started the show, was a necessity. Did he have demons? Yes. But before judging Ben too harshly, let’s not forget that Henry has admitted to committing wire fraud on the show, Ed has been imprisoned for drug offenses, and Marcus has unrepentantly admitted to killing cats(a year ago) and blowing up frogs(as a youth). So who are really the bad people here?

You can’t beat the combo of research and humor in this podcast. If you don’t like the hosts’ opinions, 👋. There’s plenty of right wing trash out there where you can “do your own research”. Also highly recommend any of the live shows. My husband and I welcomed FL’s Biggest Baby home last night at Funny Bones in Orlando and it was amazing. I’ve listened to this podcast for nearly 10 years now. It was the only thing that made me laugh after my mom died. It is wild to hear the boys evolve and grow through the episodes and I’m very happy with how the show has grown with them. Love Marcus’ passion for knowledge, Henry’s irreverent take on literally everything (even his terrible accents). Ed has been a great addition, his chemistry with the other guys is so natural, you can tell they’ve been friends for decades and I think it’s added a little spark back to the show. If you are looking for a podcast that covers stories of this nature with the sobriety of a pbs documentary this isn’t it, you don’t have to leave a one star review about you dorks. Hail yourselves 🤘

Ed Larson is perfect for LPOTL.

This used to be a great podcast until they turned into a left wing propaganda center. Not to mention the betrayal of removing a beloved host over allegations that were later proven to be false. Very unfortunate. Marcus and Henry are snakes that have to ask their wives how they’re allowed to think.
