She breaks down complex history in a way that makes the casual observer thinks it was an easy complications. That is, until you start on page one of any wikipedia page of a topic. She has a true skill, and you can tell the rigor and depth of her research. She tried to be unbiased in her narrations and that I really appreciate her for that. Keep it going!

How do you do a podcast about such a convoluted subject and do it in today’s environment without political bias. Alli roper did it. It is soooo impressive how she never strayed from the facts and it made me realize the binary debates/arguments I’ve been having are fruitless, and not the angle from which the discussion should come. A special bonus the host doesn’t rely on the word „like“ as do most podcasters , to fill her sentence she has a very pleasing delivery AND no vocal fry!!

Episodes are concise and incredibly helpful. I appreciate that the host does quick recaps of the information *right* when I need it. I can’t believe how easily I retain information from these episodes, and I credit it to the thoughtful structure and delivery. Bravo 👏🏼

Excellent, concise, unbiased, factual. I am addicted. I started with Israel, Palestine series, went to the Iran series, Russia and Ukraine and I’m now listening to the China series. They have all been so interesting, and I’ve learned a lot!

I came to this podcast when a friend told me about that Palestinian-Israeli Conflict 101 series (3parts) in October 2023. I was so excited to learn so much about everything I did not know about the Middle Eastern conflict because I have Middle Eastern heritage in my own family, being the daughter of a couple where was grew up in a rural USA town and the other was from a well-to-do Iranian family who sent my father and his brother to the US to get their college education in the 1960’s. I have felt very ignorant for all of my life about World History, having never had a course beyond middle school. Thank you so much, Ali Roper, for shedding light on the subject for us busy working adults who care a lot about the state of the world and have so little context to be able to be inspired in any way how we might make a difference in our realm of influence. I have already started sharing your podcast with my family :-)

Really appreciate the 3-part series on the Israel-Palestine conflict. I appreciate how Ali resists reductionism while still making the topics digestible. Alli does a great job of introducing you to areas of the world you might not be familiar with. Even more than this, she touches on themes of how different areas, people, and events are connected so you get the big picture. In history books and news articles, history often seems to be a series of isolated events, but Alli doesn’t paint it that way. She shows the interconnectedness of the world so you can understand why things happen.

She compiles a lot of great information. Love that I leave listening to the podcast wanting to be better and kinder.

I’m 14 and this the highlight of my families long or short car trips. We are Americans living in Saudi, we love the world perspective we get living here. Our family loves this. We love the true fullness and world view, and the way the content is portrayed. We are a homeschool family and Love it! You’re the best!

I was listening to the radio and they were discussing the current situation with China and Taiwan. The expert journalist/scholar brought up how China was using the Belt and Road Initiative and I knew exactly what he was talking about! I’ve listened to the episodes on Russia, Ukraine, China, and am now on Taiwan. Alli is so easy to listen to and just oozes her passion of world history. I love it!

This podcast is exactly what I needed. I’m a bright and educated woman, but I find I often can’t make sense of many current events because my knowledge of international history is so weak. I appreciate how the host starts at the basics, which is good for me because I feel like I know nothing, but also keeps it fast paced and intelligent so I don’t feel condescended to. The host is fantastic!! I’ve only listened to the episodes on North Korea, but I’m eager to listen to the rest of them. I wish there were a lot more episodes, but it seems that the host’s research is extremely thorough so I imagine it takes a while to put out another episode. Thank you for a great education tool. To me, they are the perfect length and the right level of depth on one country. I’d really like to understand the history of African, Middle Eastern, and South American countries that have had conflict in my lifetime. Countries like Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Syria, Columbia, Venezuela…. Hopefully some of these countries are in your future plans.

The fact that she keeps these short and simple yet full of information makes this my new favorite podcast. I feel so much better informed! She takes the daunting out of world history and serves it up beautifully so that anyone can understand. Plus her emphasis on shared humanity is just beautiful. Go listen!

This is great! I don’t remember much of anything from my world history 9th grade class, other than boredom and memorization. These episodes are fantastically organized and easy to follow while connecting the dots. Thanks Ms. Roper!
