nicuumuuPro-Trump radfems? đ€šI enjoyed the podcast at first but the sane washing Jen does of Trump is just too much. If youâre a republican gender critical who doesnât care about womenâs rights in America youâll love this podcast
-
Cooper92-Not a radfem podcastThese women are your typical gender critical group who like to espouse conservative talking points. They donât know anything about American politics, and are hardly radfem. There is more to radical feminism than just harping about trans issues. If youâre looking for a Radfem podcast look elsewhere. Ladies keep up the good work in promoting MAGA disinformation. Great job.

Moona777Liked the show at first, but have become disappointedAs others have stated here, I initially liked the podcast as I am a radfem and am always looking for political discussion podcasts from a radfem perspective. Maybe Iâm out of line here, but I donât find the hosts to be very big radfems, honestly. As also stated here in other reviews, they often make sweeping generalizations, or state opinions based in a lack of understanding of the subject, or from an emotional perspective. I am afraid I will not be listening any longer, as Iâve had too many instances of turning the show off halfway through out of frustration and disappointment. Ladies, reflect and do better.

cantsummerSmart hosts, good concept, wasted potential.Iâve listened to this podcast for a few months. At first, the high I got off of the new ideas and the lesbian representation was great. The hosts shared some insights that were revelatory to me as a new radical feminist, but the level of contempt for people who donât think exactly like them has become too exhausting to listen to. Jen berating the young adults who invested too much of their lives into the communist party she was a member of when she was young really stuck with me. Paraphrasing here: âDid you sacrifice a lot? Because I donât think I sacrificed anything.â As though she could have never ended up in a similar situation had her circumstances been a bit different. And then talking about how she got sucked into dysfunctional political lesbian stuff in her 30s; all I can say is why then judge your peers from college for being idealistic and naive? Thereâs a difference between bluntly saying it doesnât work out to act in a certain way and talking like youâre above making common mistakes. It took hearing Hannah and Jen describe the animal rights cause, something I care a lot about, though I would never characterize the movement as well-run and well-thought-out criticism is always needed, for me to realize that Iâd rather spend my time listening to shows where the hosts refuse to engage in straw-man arguments. I often seek out serious arguments against the animal rights movement, and thereâs certainly better ones out there than saying animal rights activists are all abhorrent because of a well-intentioned but disastrously implemented seal hunting ban in Canada, as though thatâs all the movement has ever accomplished. There is an irony somewhere here with them being communists. Saying that vegans talk about how indigenous people use modern weapons to hunt animals because theyâre racists who are shocked that indigenous cultures can change completely misrepresents the argument, the point is that we are all integrated into industrial society now, however devastating the process to get there was, and that we have to make decisions based on that context, which could include no longer eating animals in any region if we arranged it on a societal level. Agree with it or not, thatâs what the argument actually is, which is closer to saying indigenous people are a group of people participating in our society, with traditions like any group of any race, who are indigenous because they are native to the land, than that indigenous people must be perfectly preserved noble savages to be really indigenous. Itâs as though theyâve taken the radfem concept that women are not supposed to observe the world around them- Dworkinâs idea that weâre told itâs Adamâs job to do the naming- and committed to the opposite to the extent that they opine confidently to the point of being obnoxious about things they donât really know about. Jen saying she didnât think meditation was real was another good example of this. A million disclaimers before an opinion and a Fairness Doctrine approach on a small podcast isnât necessary, but making an argument based on emotion and one unrepresentative example is intellectually lazy. Unfortunately, they do this often. Thereâs so many podcasts with higher quality discourse that I canât justify sticking with this one any longer. Thereâs also a lot of stories about their friends they share as examples, some of which are intensely humiliating, and even if the names and some details are changed Iâm pretty sure the people in their lives can figure out whoâs being dissected on air. I wish theyâd say the example has consented to having their story shared on the podcast if thatâs the case. On stories- the one about Jenâs friend who manipulates women into sex with the promise of commitment really disturbed me. Why be friends with this guy? I donât listen to podcasts for personalities, and I can handle the occasional weak take, but I canât listen to podcasts that make me so annoyed with the hosts that itâs difficult to focus on the ideas being shared. So Iâm done with Redfem. But Iâve written all this after Iâve been annoyed by the hosts one too many times, and I did enjoy this podcast at first. So, if youâre considering listening to it as part of your intro to radical feminism, and none of the above is a dealbreaker for you, youâll probably get something out of this podcast. Hence the three stars despite all the cons.

ShoechanJust stop.Could yâall please stop talking about American politics when clearly you do not know what you are talking about. just stick to your normal talking points and leave the American politics out of it. And if you have to talk about politics, talk about your own politics about the Queen of England or whatever politics yâall be talking about over there cause you clearly donât know anything about American politics so please stop.
-
Rirey1990Painfully surface levelI think the hosts make the occasional great point, but youâll have a hard time finding them in a sea of vapid generalizations about people, politics and entire cultures. I wish more feminists were secure enough in their identity as women to accept the trans community, but these two unfortunately represent the rule and not the exception. Many episodes wasted on other peoplesâ gender identity where they could focus on organizing, theory, frankly anything useful to us in these tumultuous times.

draadraExcellent Podcasthighly recommended

LeftfemKeep it to yourselvesJust stop opining on the American election already you have no idea what youâre talking about. I canât listen to you. I am an American feminist, second wave, and speaking of waves. Thereâs a big blue one is coming tomorrow. Why donât you choose zip it until then? What is wrong with you women that you donât see the threat that America is under if the Republican is elected? And you in the UK listen to the gal in Canada she is correct but you canât accept that. You are wrong about something. It is the Democratic Party and we are Democrats. Youâve been gaslit by MAGA. With love from America

Kris9122Fave podcast đAlways interesting and well articulated discussions. I appreciate being educated about different topics related to feminism while being entertained. Both hosts are charming and easy to listen to.

Bella092311Great, just one requestEnjoyed ep 75 and will keep listening. Youâre so on the mark, but please never call men women. There is no such thing as a âtrans womanâ; these are âself-identifying trans MENâ invading womenâs spaces, and this is so important to keep clear. And while we are on it, we are not âbiological womenâ. We are women. This house of cards falls when we use correct language at every turn. Thank you!

anon010101010101Read HistoryThatâs not what political lesbianism is. There is a historical context. Start naming het entitlement and privilege for what it is. Not every bisexual doing bisexual things or het women claiming lesbianism is âpolitical lesbianism.â Stop scapegoating. Political lesbianism is a conscious specific thing. Not an umbrella term for everything you donât like or everything a lesbian with former het relationships does-e.g., âex-het lesbian.â

maebfullerEntertaining if you donât know anything about the subject they are discussingI was looking forward to a high quality radfem/gender critical podcast, and have been generally satisfied with Redfem. With that said, the massive generalizations about foreign politics and misconstruing the thoughts/works of other writers/thinkers is just about unbearable. They just did this in the 4/17/24 episode about birth rates. Listening to them wildly and inaccurately describe Louise Perryâs thoughts on that subject (as well as evopsych) was bizarre. Iâm a general fan of Perry and have things that I agree with, and heavily disagree with her on. I was hoping to hear an interesting and nuanced critique⊠instead straight up lies. They stood out starkly to someone like me who is familiar with her podcast, essays, and book. I was honestly shocked that the hosts would be so wrong and so loud about it at the same time. Thereâs plenty to critique, but be HONEST. If you arenât familiar with (and not TikTok clips, actually read or engaged with) someoneâs work- just say so! All in all it was a massive turn off, and makes me further question/lose trust in their statements on areas or people that I am less familiar with.

journals are on web versionIâm going through another political awakeningThanks to this podcast Iâve entered a new stage in my political journey. I am so thankful for how well spoken both Hannah and Dr. Jen are. They are doing such good work in combatting the problems we see on the left, that someone newer and inexperienced may not pick up on. Iâm forever grateful. Especially Hannah is just wow. Iâve seen her on TikTok before but sheâs another level on here.

ehhhsidjskejej?Very entertaining and informativeI like their banter and their discussions. Both of them have very unique perspectives, and I love how they reference different works so you can do further reading about what theyâre talking about (like for example referencing The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan)

dead_not_sleepingpodcast for transphobesif you find yourself saying things like âthe gays have gone too farâ or find yourself complaining about pronouns, this is the show to bring your ignorance to new lows

contentknowerMy new favorite podcast, completely addicted. Agree with other reviews about US + Latam politicsIâve loved Hannah Berelliâs content on Twitter and Tiktok for a while. I think sheâs brilliant and I honestly hope she writes a book because her passion and fierce dedication to combining Marxian and feminist analysis is not only educational, but almost hypnotizing, she is a firebrand who could stand next to Dworkin any day. I completely believe her when she says that she has read absolutely everything in the radical feminist canon. Not ofc to discount Jen, who has the best accent Iâve personally every heard and is equally brilliant (although I am not a Freudian). And theyâre a cute couple to boot! However, I do agree with other reviewers about some of their comments on US and Latin American politics. Sure, just roll your eyes and say âthe Americans are offendedâ but I think the ribbing is funny! And some points are true-ish. Like Hannah, Iâm also a Canadian, who has lived in the US for 10 years now and Canadians often believe that they understand Americans and American politics but theyâre confusing the irritation w US-centric media and the indignation of their âmy gosh-darn Big Shot neighborâ complex with actually living here and talking to Americans. In real life. Every single day. Twitter and TikTok are not actual ways to get an accurate understanding of a country and the people that live there. Overall, they both need to stop using arguments that start with âI saw a TikTok...â You donât âknow that Gen Zs think [x]â just because your Tiktok fyp feeds you videos of mentally ill people to make you get angry on purpose. Overall, Hannah in particular seems a bit overly logged on which disappoints me because Iâd rather she point her powerful intellect somewhere more effective (or at least less brain damaging) than just owning the libs all day đ€·đ»ââïž They also are bizarrely angry at California which is an enormous state with a huge working class and a lot of labor history, it really doesnât sound like they have ever been there so I donât really get it??? New Age-ism sentimentality exists all over the world. Maybe yâall should come out here to Texas and I can introduce you guys to some of the Latin Americans that you know so much about ;-) However, Iâd recommend this podcast. Even when I donât agree, they always make me think. Thanks guys â€ïžđ©·

housewives fan 11Misinformed on LatAm + US politicsDid this person really just say supporting Venezuelaâs Maduro regime prepared them to question trans ideology? Yikes. I had found this podcast interesting when they dove into the history of political philosophy and emerging trends like âtrad,â but the misinformation Hannah spews on both Latin American and US politics (as another reviewer had mentioned) really makes me question the integrity of her commentary on other topics as well. âAsk anyone who doesnât have a German last name if theyâre satisfied with the Venezuelan govt.â Again, yikes. So so many Venezuelans who do not have German last names have fled the country for Colombia and are even arriving in US. Sure sanctions and western interference have played a role, but in my experience, Venezuelans themselves are not shy about criticizing maduro for mismanagement of social programs, human right abuses, and intimidation. Just 1 important example - there are no more secret ballots in Venezuela. Anyways, I think you can take an anti imperialist stance and criticize the west all you want without denying the experiences of Venezuelans living under a corrupt, authoritarian govt and trying to explain it all away by saying those are just the wealthy/ neoliberal elites complaining. The situation is not so black and white, and it strikes me as intellectually dishonest to portray it as such. Please do better.

BigbiuuyNew favorite podcastI am learning a lot and really enjoy hearing Hannah and Jenâs perspective.

AEY74Great aside from US politicsSo much of this podcast is really great but the hosts are woefully uninformed about American politics. Fortunately they donât talk about it much, but listener beware when they do. The recent episode on the demise of sexual liberalism was excellent, my favorite so far.
