That poor family!! Ashley I love that you seemed to bond with her and she trusted you to tell her story! An intriguing storyline for sure! I hope there is a conclusion and you are the 1st to report about it!!

The hosts voice is very robotic and slow. It’s almost painful. The story is ok but also slow. Not really worth the time.

Ashley is a great story teller and this is such an interesting case! I binged the first 4 episodes but can’t wait for more :)

Complete waste of time. Daughter goes on and on and on about how they got the wrong guy. Oh and we can’t say who it is, or why they did it, or what they are involved in, or how they got hooked up with her mother, but we need to just blindly believe this woman (who had a super annoying voice by the way) that is was definitely not her dad.

This is a wonderfully told story… and While I truly believed at the beginning that Mike did the crime, each episode gained momentum and now I agree… something smells funny here. How this wasn’t investigated further is beyond me!! Thanks for sharing the story… I pray this error is somehow corrected. How do we fix such an awful mistake?

Very well done. I listen while I work on my early morning computer browsing and I find her voice so easy to land the story is totally captivating. Thank you for this podcast and I’m hoping Ashley continues with her reporting.

This is the first review I’ve ever written on a podcast. Because most podcasts are quite good. This sucked! Totally sucked. There was no straight line story. No crescendo. No resolution. Just let the daughter drone on and on and on…. I can’t believe I made it 8 episodes!!!!!!

I feel bad for Pooneh and the narrator did a great job with what she had, but this is a very long podcast to say basically that there is no evidence to support Pooneh’s claims and that she just desperately wishes her dad hadn’t killed her mom. I always start out with the mindset that it is SO common for people to be wrongfully convicted, but this isn’t one of those. I hope one day Pooneh comes to terms with the fact that her dad killed her mom.

I think they did a good job with the production and story telling, at least the best they could with what they had. But I think the real story is how Pooneh has been getting ripped off by an attorney (and private investigators?) for 20 years. It just seems unethical for them to take her money knowing they don’t have a case. It made me sad to hear. Wish there was more meat to this story.

The host did a great job presenting the story, and I think there is some merit to the daughters claims of her father being wrongly convicted, but I am left with a lot of questions. It was mentioned that they are still working on the case and therefore, are unable to release too much of the evidence they’ve uncovered, but based on the information that was presented, I’m not convinced. It sounds like her entire case is resting on DNA evidence that was found on her mother’s sleeve, but the main suspects were apparently in business with her mother, so it’s possible the DNA was from a separate encounter (potentially at the pre-school?). Perhaps more information will be released in the future that lend some credence to the daughters claims.

Very good information about the case. True insight of a family who lost their mom to a murder. And lost their father to a crime. Let’s hope that they open up the case and arrest the true killer.

I love True Crime, and love lots of podcasts, but this is too long, filled with extraneous details and ending with a tentative, tangential motive and suspects, but with zero certainty. A total waste of time.

I feel for the daughter in the sense that she’s devoted her entire life to finding her “mothers killer” but has no tangible proof after all these decades. In the court of law, they proved without a doubt her father was guilty and convicted. Her doubts and suspicions don’t hold water and can’t exonerate her father. Great job with the host though. I enjoyed her story telling and she kept it interesting the entire time.

The narrator did a good job on presenting the story. However, this sounded more like an infomercial on the daughter attempting to prove her father “innocent.” None of the smoke screens depicted here proved an innocent man got railroaded. I feel bad for the daughter whose wasted over a million dollars, while others in professions use her vulnerability to rake in the cash. Ask yourself one question (spoiler alert), what did the father do after his release to find the “real killer?” This is of course rhetorical. He did the same thing OJ Simpson did after his acquittal….. NOTHING.

Great podcast. Very well done. Can’t wait until the update. Keep up the good work!

I started believing in the father’s guilt, and ended convinced of his innocence. He stayed in prison rather than ask for a pardon which meant admitting guilt. It’s really in the last two episodes that the whole story changes with concrete evidence from two separate witnesses (about the car and earlier events at the day care) that turns everything on it’s head. Yes, the father had motive. But the yellow car really is the crucial part of the story.

Ashley Korslien you are so talented! You and your team deserve awards for this podcast. So well done!

My first podcast and I’m hooked!!!! I really hope she gets justice.

I feel terrible for Pooneh losing her parents, but this podcast has gone nowhere. Department of Redundancy Department. I wish I could get these hours back…so I could spend them with Payne Lindsay.

I think this is the third podcast that I have listened to. And I always enjoy listening to Ashley tell us the story of what happened! I did recognize so of the voices today of staff from KGW’ Thank you Ashley for telling a story that keeps me coming back wanting to learn more! But so sad for family! Thank you for keeping on with this story! I’m anxious to hear what the Vancouver Attorneys decide with the evidence collected in this case! I do hope the family gets some closure for all their efforts! I look forward to hearing more about this case!

Ashley, excellent work. Episode 8 was my favorite as the emotion was raw (brother and sister) and hope for an arrest is around the corner. The attorney interview was great, too.

Ashley Korslien is the reason I’ve stuck with this podcast for 7 episodes. She’s a terrific host with impeccable delivery and storytelling skills. I’ve listened to her other podcasting work as I was so impressed by this series. As for the story itself, I’m unconvinced 7 episodes in. I have nothing but compassion for Pooneh and the incredibly difficult loss she’s had to live with. However, the alternative motive presented in episode 7 makes no sense to me. Unless there’s something compelling yet to come, I’m afraid she’s devoted a ton of energy and resources to futility.

I understand the main character’s difficulty in believing her father murdered her mother, but that doesn’t make her arguments any more credible. The title comes from a vehicle that was reportedly seen leaving the general area of the murder but which doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the murder. Much attention is given to trying to establish that dna recovered from the victim’s clothing must be tied to the murderer, when, again, it may have nothing to do with the crime. Neighbors and relatives who say that the deceased feared for her life due to her husband’s threats are dismissed as liars, even though no possible motive is given for them to lie. There are other problems but why rehash them all? I gave the series a fair shot, listening to the first 6 episodes, and am convinced that this series is just a therapy for a daughter who lost both her parents.

After six episodes, I’d think I’d know more concrete reasons why the dad is innocent. The daughter sounds blinded by her emotions and has an ax to grind with everyone. I’m jumping off this train.

The true devotion of a daughter who knows NO boundaries to finding the truth! The truth always deserves to be heard. Your perseverance is humbling and what should be at the core of every human. Thank you Ashley for portraying clarity, honesty, and integrity for a daughter who just deserves to know what happened to her Momma. You are someone everyone needs on their side.

Ashley great job. Each episode leaves me wanting to know more. This is a story Keith Morrison should cover for Dateline.

5 episodes in and nothing makes me think the father is innocent. 30 years of research and this is all there is to show for it?

I am a true crime junkie fan and this story hits close to home. I live a few blocks away from the murder location. Iv always been interested in this case since I found out about it through a friend who’s grandparents work for Pooneh. If I were Pooneh I would be doing the same thing as her. I would not rest till justice is served for my parents. This story is captivating, well put together, and is a reminder to follow your gut.

As the host said at the start, this story is a bit confusing and was hard to get in to at first for me. I have since become eager awaiting the next episodes. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in Poonah’s shoes having lost her mother to murder. I wish I had found this podcast later so I could have binged the entire series.

Ashley Korslien is the best story teller! This is a very complex story and yet Ashley asks just the right questions and clarifies just the right information to make it easy to follow along. You get “hooked” right away. This podcast is truly amazing. I absolutely cannot wait for the next episode. Thanks to everyone at KGW for the high quality work on this!! Bravo!!

This podcast is well done and researched, and the host is good. That being said, after episode 5 I still have not heard any compelling evidence for the suspect’s innocence. Frankly, it’s a little hard to hear the lengths this woman is going to, to prove her father’s innocence. She’s grasping at straws, and I wish she would get the leave she needs to move on with her life and focus on other things.

I live in Vancouver, WA. And this podcast resonates with me. It seems impossible her dad is the killer. It seems very likely “others” are to blame. I can’t wait to hear that justice is finally done. It makes sense why her dad was accessed/convicted. But it makes more sense that he isn’t the actual perp. I don’t blame the cops, I blame the lawyers and judge. Her dad should never have seen prison.

I was drawn to explore this podcast when I saw it advertised, because I live in Vancouver and remember when this happened. It is fascinating and has hooked me on listening to podcasts. The history is well told and presents things in a way that is understandable to my layperson’s view. I commend Pooneh for her unending struggle to honor her mother’s memory and clear her father’s name. Thank you to Ashley for telling her story.

The true killer was arrested ans served his jail sentence it’s very obvious that he was the killer why do all of these podcast have to think that the true killers are innocent

I might eat my words, but the evidence for Mike’s innocence so far seems pretty weak. And the podcaster isn't asking anyone any hard questions. E.g., why fail to ask whether the defense’s ballistics experts had been paid for their testimony, which *might* explain why they’d disagree with the state’s experts? In the end, I’m guessing all roads are leading to a wild conspiracy theory and that Mike’s daughter would never, no matter the evidence, accept that her father was involved in this crime.

As a former journalist, I appreciate the lengths this podcast is going to present evidence, get into the details without getting bogged DOWN in the details, present multiple points of view and then … EVERY episode leaves you wanting more!

What a great podcast Ashley did a great job. It is astonishing to listening to a true story about a family that had endured so much, and still has yet to meet closure. The day they lost their mother, they also lost their father according to the story told. They were put through so much. That if I were in their shoes, I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off. Pooneh ( the daughter of the victims) did an amazing job, and I can’t wait to see this case come to a close. I hope the killer and all of the people involved receives their punishment they deserve. The man accused of the killing of his wife is for sure innocent. Thank you Ashley for such an amazing story. Can’t wait fir next episode.

You absolutely must learn the basics before talking about forensic evidence. It's as if you're working to drag in every drop of discredited forensic nonsense -- either in fact or the way you're describing it -- from the last century, and it's incredibly harmful. I never criticize hosts in my reviews; I feel like there's too much harshness on here, perhaps because we depersonalize podcasters, but you're perpetuating the same nonsense we are constantly working against, even when the expert is literally telling you the opposite in the same clip. No, it's not a "match." He just said that. In your particular case -- at least through Episode 2 -- the genotype "can't be excluded." You don't even have a statistical probability. What finally made my head explode is when the Ohio expert said,"You can't call it a match in court," and the host immediately said, “They would call this a 'match' in court.'” NO. Even if you had hard probability estimates YOU DON'T CALL IT A MATCH. P.S. Blood spatter evidence is thoroughly discredited writ large, too. Just promise not to tell us about bite mark evidence next.

I binged the first 3 episodes while staining my giant deck. This is great storytelling and I can’t wait for the next episode!

I enjoy listening but the episodes are too short.

Tho the first couple episodes confused me the third episode started tying everything together, such a chilling story and Ashley worked very hard on this and it shows.

I go through entire podcasts and then search for other true crime stories pretty much daily. (Yes, I’m a HUGE true crime fan!!!) I am also hooked on true crime docs and series, and an avid reader of crime/psychological thriller and suspense novels. I say this, to explain that the way the story is told is of upmost importance to me in getting drawn in and immersed in the details of the case. I am incredibly impressed by all Vault Studios productions, along with the various collaborations with other news stations/ investigative journalists. Ashley is especially talented and very enjoyable to listen to this work. Fantastic job with this podcast once again!
