Love love love it! One of the best gospel explanations I have heard in a long time. I love the background knowledge to further deepen my understanding of what was going on during that time. I am currently looking for your gospel breakdown of John Ch 3 but I can’t seem to find it??

I’ve been listening to this podcast through the Hallow App for over a year. It’s really the best way to understand what the gospel writers were trying to convey to their particular audiences. It’s part of my morning routine and helps me to keep everything in perspective and be focused on Christ even while working in this secular world.

After listening to Bible in a Year and the Catechism in a Year with Father Mike Schmidt, I wanted to deepen my faith by getting to know Jesus through the Gospels. Words cannot express my gratitude for the power of this podcast. My understanding is indeed so much deeper. It is a joy, yes true joy, to immerse myself every morning in the enlightened words of the Gospels through the work of Hayden and his team. Thank you!

I found this after I finished Fr. Mike Schmitz’s Bible in a Year. While not better than, this podcast does something different in that he brings us through line by line what the Scripture means and how it can relate to both the early Church as well as now. Highly recommend it as a way to pray with the Gospel as well as intellectually study Scripture.

I absolutely love this podcast. As someone who is new to reading the Bible, I love that it breaks it down and explains it by reading line by line. Not only does it really make me understand the reading, it also correlates the reading to the Catechism. Unlike other Bible studies, which gives a summary or overview of chapters, this delves into it without it being overwhelming. Highly recommend!

The podcast is a great way for me to better understand the context, history, and significance of what was written in the gospels. Providing the text from the Catechism of the Catholic Church that are connected to the daily gospel readings is also very helpful.

I’ve been listening to the Daily Exegesis for some time now, but was quite disheartened to hear (regarding the January 21 reading) that hungry disciples were walking through fields “eating corn” with a lengthy description of how corn is shucked for consumption. Corn did not exist in Judea in Jesus’ time. It was a product of the Americas and not introduced to the Old World until the 15th century. The inaccuracy of this presentation calls into question validity of other information presented in the podcast.

This is so helpful to understand the readings of the Mass. so helpful in making the scriptures impactful after hearing this podcast.

I try to listen to the gospel reading every day. I don’t always understand them, or I think that I do, and something bothers me. This podcast explains the literal meaning, and then the spiritual meaning & it gives differing opinions when there is no Catholic dogma to define it. This has helped to explain so much to me, and clear up many of my misconceptions. It has made listening to daily Gospel so much more rewarding, and brings me closer in my faith.

I love love this podcast so much. I learn every day when they go over the gospel reading of the day. They do it from context of when the reading was written and who the audience(s) are and then they look at meanings of the context as they pertain to the time. They also then look at how spiritually it may pertain to us now. They provide references. It is just an amazing show.

I love to get a detailed, in depth preview of the gospel readings before I attend daily Mass. This podcast has expanded my understanding of the context in which the teaching occurred. I especially like hearing about the religious practices of first century Jews and how Jesus came to fulfill the old law.

After many years of only finding gospel reflections, I’m grateful I was introduced to Exegesis through the Hallow app! This podcast is fantastic because it places you in the context of the times and it tells you the intended meaning and of the text, but still allows you to have your personal reflection on the text- it doesn’t take that part away, like reading gospel reflections which are others meditations on the text. This podcast was suggested to me by a fellow sister in Christ. We are apart of a small group that meets bi-weekly to discuss where we see God working in our lives and the lives of those around us.
