Food #237

Better cooking comes from deeper understanding. This instructive food series from acclaimed cookbook author Michael Ruhlman highlights essential kitchen techniques, ingredients and ideas. It draws from Ruhlman’s best-selling books, decades of experience and personal relationships with the country’s best chefs. Driven by an insatiable curiosity to learn and teach, Ruhlman approaches his topics every episode by exploring the stories of one notable chef, and one non-chef with surprising connections to the focal ingredients – all with the goal of getting listeners to engage with food more fully, and to cook more confidently.

    Love this podcast
I love this podcast, first because I am a chef and I enjoy the content from chefs and people in other industries. I have read several of his books and enjoy the way this podcast flows as well. Thanks for bringing this to us and keeping us going through the pandemic. Can’t wait for season two and have recommended it to several people!!

I wanted an hour of Keller & Ruhlman and I got this...
...which is still 9 of 10. BUT, I can live without the music & the drama. Drop the production value & I (really don’t) Heart Radio and let a genius be a genius please...

    So good
Thoughtful, interesting, surprising... this is a great food podcast for anyone who is curious about the world. It touches on so many things beyond what you typically find in a “cooking” series, but now I also feel like I “get” some of the ingredients better. Thank you!

    Typical Ruhlman!
Typical in that it’s well researched, well presented and you’ll learn a thing or two. So excited for this!

    Fresh, charming storytelling
Ruhlman has found and succeeded at yet another medium. The podcast has such an outstanding mix of history and storytelling. Ruhlman and his guests speak to you as though you were a part of the conversation. I have always loved citrus, and now I know so much more and maybe why. I love the catchy music chosen for the backdrop too. Every little detail is attended to just as the chef would do with one of his/her recipe. Listening to this podcast makes me want to know more- my appetite is definitely stimulated for more episodes. Bravo!

    Authenticity episode!
The guest on the authenticity episode took a topic that usually gets discussed in such thoughtless ways and turned it into a mind blowing breakthrough. I’ll never think about authentic food the same after hearing that.

The cooking podcast I’ve been waiting for
Michael Ruhlman talks to chefs, cooks, and also asks the questions beneath those conversations. Informative and fun at the same time!
