    Great podcast
If you want a PhD in cowboy culture, history, poetry and music, this is the place to get it. I am fairly new to podcasts (just started in 2024) so when I found this one, I started listening non-stop. Don't think I have listened to anything else since. Haven't gotten through all of them yet, but I'm catching up fast! Thanks Andy for the great job. I really like the way you interview your guests- they do almost all the talking- you get 'em started then turn 'em loose.

    Best Western Historian
Andy is amazing, best western history for songs, poem, stories of the real cowboys. Never disappoints, even after listening for 5 years. Check out his music too!

    Remembering the Past
This podcast gives a lot of respect and recognition to a generation that built the ranching industry that still exists today. The entertainment industry doesn’t accurately portray the values that build up people like this podcast does. I really appreciate the interviews with these highly respected folks that still do their best to put in a good days work even well into their years. We can still learn much about what builds character from these people.

Really enjoy the interviews Andy is doing. Interesting people doing interesting things. Watched Andy kinda grow up over the years at the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering. He’s taken his interest in the cowboy culture, poetry and music and tapped into a means of sharing that interest and I appreciate it. Keep up the good work Andy!

Humor, History, Wit, and Wisdom with a Western Perspective.
In the contemporary, mainstream culture, we can easily lose touch with our rural past. One of the few remaining outposts of this past lives on in the Western music and poetry scene. In this realm, performers don’t merely honor this heritage, they live it as working cowboys, cattlemen, or other businesses closely linked with production agriculture. In this podcast, Andy Hedges serves as a bridge to this world, interviewing artists who aren’t in entertainment for fame or wealth, but do it because they love this world and enjoy entertaining those who live it. Pick any episode of Cowboy Crossroads and you will find authenticity and pride in craftsmanship that you may have thought disappeared long ago. You will find that these traits are alive and well, living in the American West.

    The Best of the West
My wife and I love this podcast. Andy is thoughtful and easy to listen to, and he does a great job directing the conversation. He interviews awesome cowboys and cowgirls, and includes a lot of cowboy poetry recitation. We stumbled upon this podcast with the Colter Wall interview, and now we’re hooked.

Carrying on traditions in a new way
I’m not a cowboy, or a poet, or a musician by any means. Just a guy from Texas that enjoys stories and songs. I want to thank Andy for using this podcast to continue these traditions in a way that reaches people like myself. This truly is the best of what social media can get us.

    Wonderful interviews and histories
These interviews of western singers, poets, and historians provide a great way to get to know the work and experiences of these artists as well as how they came to want to share their work with the rest of us. Andy Hedges is a great interviewer, setting up a wonderful group of storytellers to tell their tales of ranching, horses, music gigs, and what led them to their work. Thank you, Mr. Hedges, for this podcast!

    Great show
This is an amazing podcast, there’s so much history and great stories coming out of all these episodes. It’s a real eye opener to this kind of music where it’s all come from and how it all started, I’ve enjoyed every episode and have learned something new from all these poets and artists from cowboying to things from the old America.

    Cowboy Crossroads
The word that comes to mind is, “authentic.” When I need a break from all the noise in my world, I listen to these interviews. It takes me away for a while to a more grounded way of thinking and living. Love it!

    Let 'Er Buck!
Andy Hedges is like the gateman for rough stock at a rodeo. The rodeo gateman is essential to the ride because he has to open the gate when the rider is ready and then nods for that gate. And when that gate swings open and that bronc rider comes out, if the gateman does his job you see a spectacular ride. Andy Hedges knows when to open that gate and let his guests make their ride. His interview style is just as spectacular as the rides his guests take us on. It is also worth listening to just to hear Andy say 'poem' in his Texas way that rings true like spurs on a wooden sidewalk in the springtime sun.

My favorite podcast! Takes you back to a time in life we don’t experience much anymore. Like sitting in front of the fire after a big family Sunday night dinner with your family.....listening to the elders and wise ones tell stories.

    I can’t get enough!
I love this podcast! It has been a pleasure to discover these artists on a more personal level through these interviews. Andy’s passion for poetry and music, as well as the history of this genre connects you to a wide variety of artists. There are so many amazing recitations and musical performances, you feel like you’re getting a personal concert. Although I’ve finally gotten caught up on all the past episodes, I have to admit that I’ve listened to some episodes more than once or even twice. I need to take notes the next time through. I’ve found new music and poetry I want to listen to and read, as well as learning more about the roots and development of cowboy music and poetry. I only wish I had discovered this podcast sooner!

    Gold.
Andy is down to earth and very knowledgeable about the subject matter. He’s a great interviewer as well, and chooses a wide variety of guests. Even if you’re not into cowboy poetry (yet!), anyone interested in the American West and a purer, more common sense approach to life would enjoy this. This is simply one of the best things you’ll find in the podcast world.

    Hobbled and Grinnin'
Well, I love podcasts... and dine on them regular. But once in a while you find one that's not just food for the brain or motivational juice, some are just nectar for the soul. And here's where we meet the Cowboy Crossroads. Andy has a recipe for success and all he had to do was stick a microphone in front of it. Kudos on doing it with pure Cowboy charm. I'll be back - often - to find out what else I need to buzz through another night on string. Best.

    The Real Deal
What an outstanding podcast series. Real stories and authentic music by those people that have lived and worked the cowboy life. The reality is woven into every story, song or poem and you can hear the jingle of the spurs, the creaking of a saddle and the feel of a good horse with every episode. The best!

Best Podcast for Cowboy Folk Life
An accomplished musician and cowboy poet himself, Lubbock, Texas’ Andy Hedges’ presents a well-produced show that is truly 2nd-to-none for cowboy culture and folk arts. Storytellers with yarns from back in their ol’ cow punchin’ days, poets right off the Elko stage, cowboy singers and songsters, traditional western artisans and craftsmen - Hedges’ guests are the who’s who of cowboy folk life and he has an uncanny knack for getting the best out of their mouths and into your ears.
