packetman255Podcast suitable for even Down State Brewers (DSB)My Dearest Listeners, Allow me to regale thee with a tale of libations divine, conveyed through the auditory realms by the wondrous "The Beer Temple Podcast." Verily, 'tis a marvel hosted by the esteemed Chris Quinn, proprietor of The Beer Temple Bottle Shop, and the venerable Mike Schallau, the mastermind behind the brewing alchemy at Is/Was Brewing. From the very moment the phonograph begins to spin their melodic voices, a symphony of hops and barley doth dance within the ears, transporting the imbiber to an ethereal realm of beer knowledge. 'Tis as if one hath stumbled upon a hidden cellar, where the amber nectar of the gods flows freely, and the wisdom of brewmasters cascades like a bubbling brook. Chris Quinn, a maestro of malt, leads the discourse with a blend of erudition and conviviality. His passion for the hoppy elixirs is as evident as the froth upon a freshly poured pint. Each episode, he delves into the depths of the beer universe, sharing insights, anecdotes, and the secrets of the brewing artisans. Alongside him stands the sagacious Mike Schallau, a brewer of unparalleled skill, whose tales of ale-crafting resonate like the notes of a well-played fiddle. His wisdom, garnered from years of fermenting magic, adds a richness to the podcast akin to the finest barrel-aged stout. The duo's camaraderie is akin to the bond betwixt barley and water, inseparable and essential. Together, they traverse the landscape of beer, from the hop-laden hills to the malt-kissed valleys, leaving no keg unturned in their quest for brewing enlightenment. In the parlance of our time, I declare "The Beer Temple Podcast" a five-star gem, a beacon guiding thirsty souls through the labyrinth of ales and lagers. Forsooth, if thou art a devotee of malted wonders and seek a podcast that doth quench thy curiosity, look no further. Let the Beer Temple be thy sanctuary, and may the effervescence of knowledge flow endlessly. With frothy regards. 3 Bottle Caps

JbordersHark and Attend!Ye lovers of the brewed elixir, I put forth my musings on a most enlightening auditory feast - The Beer Temple podcast. Each episode is a wondrous journey as the hosts, Chris and Mike, thoughtfully delve deep into everything from beer history, styles/trends, tasting, to the malt current events in the industry. The production, though wrought by modern means, carries the warmth and crackle of a warm fireside conversation with beloved friends. In spirit of the utmost admiration and respect for this auditory banquet, I bestow upon it the highest commendations. In the parlance of our times, where the measure of worth is oft quantified, I decree this podcast worthy of five bottle caps. A perfect score, as rare and precious as a vintage brew from the cellars of the most esteemed brewery or the freshest Head Hunter in the land. Now as I lay down my quill, I raise my glass in salute and the deepest appreciation to The Beer Temple Podcast. Huzzah! - Don P.S. Indeed, such glowing praise shall not merely linger in the ephemeral realm of the digital world. In keeping with the spirit of tradition in craft brewing, a handwritten copy of this review shall be crafted with the utmost care and sent to The Beer Temple in haste.

N1138Great beer podcastI’ve been listening for a long time (and have reviewed before, as well as writing in a couple of times). I am very behind in my podcasts, so I only recently listened to the 10th anniversary (of the BT) show, which lamented the lack of reviews, so here’s another one. Since the show switched from the Insiders Roundtable to the current format, I’ve continued to enjoy listening, although I admit I still enjoy the roundtable shows the best. Mike has been a great addition as co-host, as the banter between him and Chris livens things up even more. Keep the show going and keep bringing interesting guests on. One of these days I’ll get back to Chicago and to the Beer Temple! Thanks! Bill

SurlyGrlTour de BeerGreetings gentlemen - While I have previously given 5 stars and a review to the Insiders Roundtable, this will be my first for the Beer Temple podcast. I’ve been listening since almost the first episode (of Roundtable) and love the show. (As a 61-year old woman, congratulations on hitting a very niche demographic!) It occurred to me that there is something about listening to Chris and Mike that reminds me of Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin (RIP) providing commentary during the Tour de France. I would record stages of the race, save them for months, and then turn them on late at night, just to listen to their voices. As I’ve been listening to the most recent episodes in my car, I find it very easy to just let them play, one after the other. The information, the experts, the education, the banter…and the world class fades, keep me coming back. So, cheers to the Phil and Paul of beer podcasting!

Great, butnotenoughRun to the Temple for a Top Beer PodcastIn the podcast world that are many pretenders out sharing beer opinions. Few, if any, are more more informed or more entertaining than The Beer Temple Podcast. Based in Chicago, the host and Proprietor of The Beer Temple, Chris Quinn, together with co host and brewing entrepreneur, Mike Strong (wink wink) will guide you through the entire industry. They mix deep dives into beer styles with industry round tables, top brewer interviews and even fun fantasy drafts of global beers. With an ever changing list of fun guest personalities, you’ll always be sure to learn while being entertained with every episode. Interesting perspectives paired with business and market insight = a great podcast experience. Cheers!!!

Chicago Jason AOutstanding showJust wanted to check in after discovering this podcast during hiatus. Really love the discussions and diverse guests covering the Chicago beer scene and beer industry topics. The Beer Temple store is also a Chicago treasurer and worth seeking out whether you are a native or in town for a visit. Love that they keep nearly all beers in an awesome cooler, and carry such an amazing range of quality brewers across most styles. Glad you have returned, looking forward to the new shows!

Jason MassopustIt's opened up a window...Some of my greatest podcast experiences have been talking about podcasts while sharing podcasts with people who's opinions I respect and admire. And it's this podcast that I enjoy the most. It's great for someone who lives in Wisconsin to find out about new beer across the border. I have planned multiple trips to Chicagoland locations soley on info I have heard on this show. Great opinions and insight. PS - This opinion is my own and does not represent the Beer Temple or WLPN.

Wet tennis ballInsightfulChris and company often entertain and bring thoughtful commentary to topics pertaining to the beer industry. At times their discussion will be Chicago- centric or Dust laden, to the detriment of the rest of the country, which is understandable considering the show is based out of Chicago, and Dustyville. That fact should not deter a listener that the core issues may also be relevant elsewhere. A new listener may find themselves feeling lost at times due to many inside jokes with the frequent panelists. My advice is to continue listenin, get some Dust, and eventually you too will become an insider. Reuben Kincaid/King Kona 2020 Dust or Bust

conner666a very informative beer show!Although it can be very Chicago-centric at times, it is still the most imformative beer podcast I have listened too. They go into many details of the industry and it's biggest happenings, Chris is a great host and their are always great guests, with the exception of a few. I think our country needs a change at the top, and I vote for King Kona, and our motto should be: In Dust We Trust!

Steven MorrisseyBest beer podcastHost and weekly guest’s are very informative about the very inside of the beer industry but also trends for the nerd & normal consumer. Razzle dazzle, ISO, listen now.

bfsROCKS5 bottlecapsIt’s a hot, summer day. The sun is beating down on your face, and you’re in line with your buddies in beautiful Munster, Ind. You yearn for a certain type of hop-based refreshment with overwhelming amounts of grapefruit and lime notes. You crave a certain amount of bitterness and would do anything for it. You know there is only one beer that’s the undisputed king of beer. The Beer Temple Insiders’ Roundtable is like Zombie Dust but for your ears. Chris Quinn and his venerable roundtable of beer insiders gather weekly to have a knowledgeable, informed discussion of the trends in beer that have your local brewer saying, “what the hell.” Each episode is enjoyable from beginning to end with an indulgent but enjoyable amount of inside jokes, banter and occasionally incredibly heated debate. Quinn promises at the beginning of the show that the his mission is to give the public a sample of the conversations he has in his bottle shop and taproom and he does just that. Although heavily-Chicago focused the trends in this city are relevant to nationwide trends and Quinn has a rotating cast of nationwide experts to offer a through look at the U.S. beer industry. Break out the dust and know that The Beer Temple Insiders’ Roundtable is in the Beer Hall of Fame in my heart.

WocHieMost informative beer podcastWhile in a lot of ways the Insiders Roundtable can be just a hyperlocal look at the Chicago craft beer scene, the experiences and breadth of topics covered on the show-I think-can give any beer nerd a heightened context to their hobby that’s hard to get anywhere else.

Lucas ChristainStop With The Stupid “Dust” jokesThis podcast is about 75% enjoyable. The most unbearable part is the idiotic and consistently distracting jokes about Zombie Dust. I get it, you think it is funny to poke at novice beer drinkers who think Zombie Dust is the greatest beer ever. You just distract from the excellent beer knowledge of your guests every time the pod devolves into uncreative ways to make fun of beer Bros who, yes are annoying. Otherwise, thanks for having on excellent local and national guests and discussing unique aspects of the beer industry.
-
ZacA88Really Informing! The Beerists podcast recommended this to me and I’m really glad they did. I work in the liquor/beer industry and really enjoy the wealth of information and informed opinions on this podcasts. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone in the industry or interested in it.
-
Prof. FunstuffHow much can you really say about beer? This podcast is the only one I've stayed subscribed to through three podcatchers and two platforms. Always interesting and insightfull, in-depth discussions that go beyond soundbites and headlines. The guests are real beer industry professionals from across all tiers. If you care about craft beer, not just as a beverage but as an industry as a whole, you need to subscribe.
-
SeigetankGreat beer podcastLove this podcast! They do a great job of talking about all different topics hitting the beer industry. I love the diverse opinions of distributers, bar owners, and brewers. Keep up the great work. It is pretty heavy midwest/Chicago focus, not nessisarily in the topic discussions, but in the opinions. Definitely try to stop buy the store every time I am in the area. Only mad that I dont have access to many of the beers they discuss!
-
Big789jGood StuffChris and his revolving group of insiders give an excellent glimpse into the beer industry. They routinely talk about issues that affect not just beer industry people, but a lot of small businesses in general. Chris also gives excellent insight into how crafty beer has changed over the years, and growing pains of the industry that sometimes strike personal tones with Chris and the crew, a reminder that progress tends to have a price. Episode 77 was EXTREMELY important.

Davos in CTAn alternative beer podcastMost of the podcasts you'll find about beer focus their content primarily on tasting and reviewing beers from around the world. This is not that podcast. The Insiders Roundtable is really an industry perspective on beer topics. Marketing, distribution, industry trends, and the growth of the craft beer movement are common discussion points. Calling it "the business of beer" might be an oversimplificaiton but it does sort of fit the TL;DR bill. Give host Chris Quinn, frequent guest Ed Marzewski, and the rotating panel of industry insiders a chance and you might just find a new podcast addiction.
-
brockt11Always fresh and 0 IBU'sLong time listener, first time reviewer. I thoroughly enjoy the “hot off the press” topics, specifically the continued consolidation of the beer industry (unfortunately a near weekly occurrence), growth of the specialization brewery (reviving near extinct styles), fresh beer transparency from brewers and distributors, and the proliferation of the brewpub and on premise sales (completely lost to the market research industry that I work in). We are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful selection of great beer in the Chicagoland area! But, by far, the most enjoyable part of this podcast is getting to know the unique personalities in the craft beer world, not to mention some great brew recommendations across the country! Bravo Chris!
-
Nbrock24My favorite podcastAs thoughtful as Chris Quinn's The Beer Temple store is, these are the beer related conversations to match. Smart questions, diverse guests and hot takes make this both a great podcast and a fun live listen/online chat experience.

ACLdocMuch better than this year’s HopslamUnlike Hopslam, which may or may not get worse from year to year, BTIR (Beer Temple Insiders Roundtable) is always getting better. This is the only podcast I currently am completely caught up with. Great stand alone podcast, but even better when listening live on Lumpen Radio, while simultaneously following the hilarious comments by BeerCruncher and JackOC in the chat room. Insiders always have insight on beer business and culture and include brewers, distributors, educators, generous fanboys (beermefitz), beer journalists from Chicago and around the country, as well as the lone retailer on the show, host Chris Quinn. If you love beer, but abhor "calls to action", this podcast is for you. Hoppun

jaketazUnder-editedTons of dead time, um/uh/you know/like, and long silences.
-
MicroadjunctesbWorth it every timeAt it's best, the show is an informing and interesting discussion on trends, concerns, competition, collaboration, etc. by people deeply immersed in the craft beer industry who are trying to balance art and passion with the economics of providing for their families and employees. At its worst it veers in an obsession with the behavior and motives of big beer companies in a way that gives them too much credit in terms of their relevance for craft beer but thankfully rarely stays there for long. Solid 5!
-
AcubflemFun and informative showI listened/watched Chris's old podcast and followed him to his new one. Chris is someone whose opinion I trust when it comes to beer, even if I don't agree with him(which isn't very often). I enjoy the conversations and the differing opinons without shouting and name calling. Keep up the good work guys! P.S. Is Ed Mar a successful Human Clone of King Kona? Those two look a lot a like and I know the King is always ahead of the curve on everything.
-
NotnuksVery informative podcast / radio showChris and guests do a great job of mixing in beer industry news with thoughtful and funny debates on trends in the world of craft beer. Passionate guests talking about how beer affects them and their lives make for an entertaining listen. One of my favorite podcasts period.
-
schnei17Informative, entertaining and insightfulChris and crew manage to come up with a consistently entertaining and informative podcast each episode. Great to catch up on the latest industry news, hear introductions to new beers, and listen to frank opinions from those in the know. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Jed TurnerGreat PodcastThoughtful and witty discussion of current issues facing all facets of the craft beer industry.
-
MSardinaAn Inside(r's) Look at the World of BeerIt's never been a more interesting time to be a part of the beer-world. Chris and the "Insider's" on this weekly podcast dissect and digest some of the high-level (and some of the not-so-high-level) topics that impact the beer world of today. The rotating cast of individuals with a diverse background always keeps the show interesting and changing, yet relevant and generally pretty well informed. If you listen to beer-related podcasts you would be remiss to overlook this one. Only criticisms would be that it's fairly focused on the Chicago market and scene, and that some of the opinions of the vocal minority on the show can be agressive and damning of certain aspects of this industry that are controversial or contrary to what might be the "minority's opinion" on certain issues.
