A suspect sits across the table from a detective. Tension and accusations hang in the air. It’s a familiar scene. An investigator hunting for the truth. Determined to solve the crime. Maybe even get a confession. But getting to the truth can take years of training and practice. What do these seasoned investigators know that we don’t know? What are the tactics they use to get someone talking? From the team behind Bardstown and The Officer’s Wife, Anything You Say goes inside those rooms and digs into the art of the interrogation.Anything You Say launches September 16 and is hosted by Eric Flack, Chief Investigative Reporter at WUSA9 in Washington, DC.

    Excellent!
Entertaining if you enjoy professionally done interrogations

    Ugh, the narrator.
Really interesting premise, but the host is killin me with the CONSTANT forced, dramatic pauses. It’s so pronounced that it’s just super distracting. Driving me nuts. It takes away from really great content.

    Obsessed
I came up to places to drive just so I could keep listening to this fascinating podcast. I listened to all the available episodes in 2 days and then went back and listened to my favorites again. Then I futilely scoured my podcast app for podcasts similar to this one (breaking down police interrogations) - I couldn’t find any. Sure, there are other podcasts by the creators of this one but this subject matter is surprisingly intriguing. I can’t wait for new episodes. I can’t get enough. Also - I’ve read a review or two that say lying to suspects to get them into the interrogation room is unjust but I disagree. I think many bodies would never be found, manners/causes of death would never be known, and closure for families would never be a possibility for the simple fact that the suspect would cut and run or clam-up if they knew the reason behind them being taken ‘downtown’ in the first place. Call me crazy but when a human being deceptively takes the life of another human, they lose the courtesy of receiving ‘honesty’ (to a certain extent) from investigators. Deception breeding deception seems pretty fair to me. If you’re not listening to this show, you’re missing out.

    A Good Listen
I think it is fascinating to observe these investigators’ process. It shows some police have developed skills to conduct non-coercive, non-violent, patient interrogations of suspected offenders with a pretense of respect and restraint of judging. Every police person in such positions should have this training and be checked periodically by objective evaluators to ensure these high standards are met. More safeguards need to be put in place though to guard against false confessions. The right to lie to a suspect should be abolished.

    Love this!!!
I hope more episodes are released. It’s a different type of podcast, one that I’ve never heard before and I’m hooked!

    Wow!
What a great show! I’m about 5 episodes in and this is an amazing pod! Very well done. My only wish is that there was a little more raw audio and a little less breakdowns/narration/analysis. Obviously that element is needed, and for sure makes the show so good, but some episodes just seem to pull away right smack in the best part of the interrogation! Lol. Great show guys. Hope y’all keep ‘em coming!!!

    Yes!
I love this unique perspective! Unique in the way that other podcast don’t use the interrogation tapes as much as they should, and this podcast delivers just that. I can’t wait for the next episode to be released every time I finish one. Thank you!

    Average at best
Not great not terrible Some of the “experts” they use (ep 7) is out of touch with reality. (I have 20 years conducting major crime investigations)

Like a book you can't put down
This podcast is very well done, I just binged the entire season in 2 days. Expert editing, production, storytelling, everything. It has a seamless documentary-like style that feels built for the podcast medium. Many voices tell the story throughout (usually in an interview format), but the narrative still sounds polished without feeling scripted. The subject matter is fascinating: each episode focuses on a specific crime but manages to weave in a little history, psychology, and police procedure. Can't wait for the next season!

    Entertaining and interesting!
This podcast is extremely good and different from most true crime podcasts! I love how we can hear real interrogations and hear from real detectives! I really hope there will be a second season!

    One of my faves
I like this podcast. It’s a different spin on true crime and it’s interesting to hear the voices of the suspects and the agents.

    I like it
I like it but I wish they would play way more of the interrogation and less of the podcast people talking.

    Episode #5
Is anyone else bothered with the way the interrogation in episode #5 went? That kid was taken advantage of and forced into confessing in my opinion. I felt uneasy listening to the entire episode and I was glad to hear this kid’s feelings on the whole thing at the end. I do like however that this was shared so we can get a better understanding on how cops can easily pressure people into false confessions.

    Wow
As a true crime fan, this is a great podcast. I find the psychology behind talking to criminals and getting a confession fascinating. Keep it up!

Eric Flack’s presentation so-well put together!
Eric Flack’s capsulized each section of this fascinating murder interrogation- the detective’s methods were amazing! Thanks to Eric Flack for explaining the procedure without getting in the way of what I listened to! This was a more than FIVE STARS !!!!! The second pod cast about interrogating R Hyde and the discovery of a naked torso (no head arms or legs left wanting to hear more - I wished that interrogator probe just a bit longer and popped this murders sealed up mind! Eric you picked a really good one again and thank your for your concise summaries and narrations - MORE than 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Great Psychological Analysis
We’re only two episodes in and this is already my favorite podcast from Vault Studios. This one is a gem for people who are interested in the psychology behind getting people to talk about crimes they (presumably) committed. Where LE sits, what they ask, who they invite into an interview room, even choice of polygrapher is discussed. Great experts who review the interview tapes provide excellent insights.
  • brooklynmuse79
    Can’t.
Those fake pauses some narrators take as they read are so contrived. Are they taught this as an attention-sustaining technique? More like attention-averting.
  • Coog3176
    Well done!
This podcast about true crime is well scripted, produced, and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to the end as to what was going to come next! I just heard one episode but I am hooked and ready for the next!

    Interesting format
Seems like a different approach to the true crime genre. For those that like to play detective, hearing from the pros that do the interrogations on their trade secrets is a lot of fun. Looking forward to more episodes.
