8lah8lahBad interviews by News organizationsThis was a pretty bad podcast. It’s clearly created by news people, a bunch of fluff. Just a bunch of too invasive interviews and weird interviews of the interviewers.
-
BlujavelinGreat regional reporting.Nice to review this case and reflect on the drama and mystery.
-
avdthreeCould’ve been one episodeInteresting set-up but not much of a story. They go on and on saying the same things over and over. Just listen to episode 1, 5, and 6. and even then it drags. Bonus points for the host’s name being Lou Raguse.
-
SScarrellaVery good - worth the listenGreat true crime podcast. Would highly recommend.

#smithereensThere's hope in the endI absolutely loved this podcast! Tragically sad story with a hopeful ending for the victim. Episodes 3 & 4 (if I'm correct), added some commentary for the last half of each show, which I didn't really understand. Typically, a podcast might add a "bonus" episode for things like this (commentaries, updates, etc), so it was a little odd to just throw it into the back-half of an episode. But that's my only critique. Otherwise, this story is captivating, well executed and respectful to the victim and families involved. I highly recommend!

AroselovesyouRespectfulHe did a great job telling the story and being respectful of Jayme and her family. There wasn’t any speculation, only facts laid out in an easy to understand manner.
-
BgisurjaDisappointingThis is such an interesting case so it was so disappointing how PAINFULLY slow the storytelling was. I gave up episode 4 and googled the rest.
-
stingrayhallVery AverageIt’s an interesting case and I get that the news station has a huge archive to share, however there’s A LOT of filler, a lot of asking people how they felt when they heard the news, how the reporters felt, etc. My recommendation if you do another one - make 3 really blockbuster episodes instead of 8 meh ones.
-
LululabonteSo-soThe bulk of the story is in 3 episodes. The rest is just fluff. If you are a true crime fanatic- skip it.
-
Henry37Well DoneI’m a true crime pod cast listener and this is one of the better ones. Hosts are professional and there is not any dumb banter, like so many other podcasts.
-
blanksSo much fluffPodcast is okay, but three episodes could be combined into one 20 minute episode. You get about 5 mins of info and the rest is filler trying to pull your heart strings.
-
PDJORGreat podcastSuch a crazy story & done in such a good way. I recommend this podcast to everyone
-
AMSG2020CaptivatingPhenomenal podcast. Well researched. Loved the interviews as they added a more personal element to the case.
-
cpn4490Drug OutThis is really long and drawn out. The listeners don’t need to hear all of these interviews. The story is captivating and could have been a great podcast, but this is just bad storytelling. So much of this just bored me to no end. I started skipping episodes and eventually just Googled what happened, which I never do. It always irks me when a journalist talks about their own feelings, too. This should be about Jayme.
-
mimihoffWaste of timethis entire podcast was dragged out with no new or interesting content. if you want to learn about this case, you could read 2 articles and understand what happened
-
too much true crime guyUnbelievableThis could have been a great podcast. But in true journalism form, these fools made it about themselves. The last thing I EVER want to listen to is a podcast in which journalists talk about their feelings. Unbelievable but not surprising.
-
lkakBy FAR the best podcast coverage of this caseThe best. Very, very well done.
-
Cecilia's Big SisterVery well done!I really enjoyed this podcast. It is professional, and went in depth. It also gives a behind the scenes view of how it is to report on high profile criminal cases.
-
wallacemeNot goodThis podcast is just not good. There is no captivating storytelling - it’s just one news reporter talking about how he felt throughout the case as it unfolded.
-
HappygoddessVery informativeI have listened to several VAULT podcasts and I heard this one advertised on one of those. After listening to this true crime story ( which I had never heard about) I was surprised to see such a low rating. This is a good podcast and very professionally done. It’s obviously that the local reporters were very touched by the family members and their feelings. I will definitely look forward to their next podcast.
-
tiny8987Don’t do itDon’t waste your time on this. It is literally news anchors discussing their own interviews then playing segments on their own new station. It is more about how they interviewed this case than the actual facts or details of the case. Also 2/5 episodes were just lengthy interviews with family members. It just seemed like the local news station knew they had an interesting story and thought they could make some easy money jumping on the true crime bandwagon.
-
enemveeKept my attentionNot a bad podcast, but it wasn’t as gripping as some other serialized crime case podcasts (e.g. Urge to Kill, Your Own Backyard). I usually judge a podcast by how much it leaves me on the edge of my seat or my level of excitement to start the next episode; I can’t say my reaction was very overwhelming in either of those areas. I do appreciate that he included dialogue from the court room and interviews with Jayme’s family. Overall, he did a nice job laying out the timeline of the case, I just can’t pinpoint what it was that didn’t hook me.
-
KayeleonieWow!!This was a great podcast.. I don't remember this case/ or crime....this guy was brutal and the doctors didn't think he had any psychological issues.. "Really"....personally speaking .... I doubt it ...
-
OkcLiamThank interviews talking about interviewsJust one interviewer talking about other interviews.
-
Blue'sSoAwesome!Fabulous Podcast!Great journalism. I enjoyed hearing all the details! Thanks!
-
COWBOY68Narrators NarratorsThe story is intriguing but it’s a lot of the narrators/reporters talking and explaining their feelings over and over , endlessly.
-
ktlp19Could have been better....I listened because it’s a story from my home station, but it’s poorly executed and not at all in line with the same standards not crime podcasts of similar status. No new information was provided and it was so boring to listen to. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
-
ceramicstageSo Much Potential UnrealizedThis could have been a wonderful podcast; however, the production was terrible. The interviews dragged on far too long, and then the interviewer being interviewed after hearing the interview was just too much. These news folks love to hear themselves talk. Very disappointing.
-
BigListen5Needs tighter narrative controlThis is a compelling story and has the potential to be a compelling podcast, but it's produced by a local news reporter in the style of local news. It relies heavily on soundbites from locals to set the scene. But locals in front of microphones tend to be inarticulate, repetitive, and vague. A potentially riveting story is mired in a slog of ordinary people reiterating their predictable shock and concern at the situation.
-
albureysmomWowThis was a compelling story. Great interviews and could feel the connection you had with the family. As a believer in Jesus Christ it showed how he does set people up to be right where they need to be. I look forward to hearing more work from you.
-
ohno1278DisappointingThis podcast was disappointing. I was so bored that I found myself forwarding much of the episodes. Interviewing the interviewers is just not what keeps listeners engaged.
-
Bentleysmom2012Talking to fastI like the story but the Patterson episode has so much fast talking it bothers my anxiety. I have to stop listening
-
LddcBoring 😣I tried two different times to get through this podcast and I just couldn’t. Way too much filler.
-
MBad937Too much content!Love the narrator, but so much content plus the skipping around and not really following a timeline left me confused, and honestly a little frustrated. About halfway through episode 4 I finally just Googled Jayme Closs to see what the outcome was.
-
MEDMEDx288 DaysI listened to whole story... amazing!!!
-
OlivePodcastsToo much fillerOkay but could have been done in one or two episodes. Way too much about how people were feeling and it got extremely monotonous and hard to listen to.
-
falsecrimeGoodPretty good
-
easttxguyJust Wow!!!This is a great and tragic story. The creators of this podcast should be commended for producing such a moving narrative. Well done!!!
-
GrouanMehFor the genre, it was ok. I think it would resonate more if you were a local to Wisconsin. I just did not think there was much insight to the story- and it really drags on.
-
RedtootsiepopWay too drawn outCould have been 1-2 episodes. Host has a pleasing voice, which is great but tends to talk about how he was "feeling". It's not about you. Way too much filler.
-
AwschjebmkdGreat series!Really well done true crime series. Kept me engaged, very easy to follow, no dead air. Such an amazing story 5/5
-
<AK>Money is greed and greed is moneyThis literally happened less then a year ago and your already trying to profit off this young woman. It’s a sickening and unfortunately it’s a relatively common practice. I don’t care how you spin this it’s wrong very very wrong. I live just outside the community where this happened. If you want to make money go look at the extreme negligence of the police department who didn’t do there job.
-
therealangelfishieCaptivating but unnecessary commentaryVery interesting story. But you lost me when the reporters started pow-wows to discuss how the story “made them feel.” I really don’t care how it made the reporter feel. This part of the podcast was a turnoff. Otherwise great story.
-
SRFernwoodMehDon’t be fooled. This isn’t so much a podcast about Jayme, it’s a podcast about the reporter. Every episode becomes about him. Disappointing.
-
speppermintzWorthwhileThis is a touching story, devastating, but thankfully with a happy ending under the difficult circumstances. I paid more personal attention to this when it happened because my family is originally from WI, less than an hour from Barron, and also my parents were nearby when Jayme was taken and the murders of her parents. I was interested in finding out more of the details. The story is done in more of a tv news/journalistic sort of way, which I am not used to with other true crime podcasts, but the delivery is well done, heartfelt, and factual. I appreciated the personal story of the main newscaster who hosted the story.
-
AshleyDinoleeWish it was a more immersive storyThis doesn’t really tell a story. It’s just a bunch of long interviews with a bit of story in between.
-
stupid???VERY well done!I listen to 100’s of podcast and this was excellently done!
-
Biff123ZzzzzzzBoring AF. This podcast literally goes nowhere.
-
cbcmk81Excellent!Excellently done!
-
